The Engaged Teaching Hub has created these syllabus resources as a guide to assist you in designing a syllabus that is student-centered and clearly communicates your course goals. The resources below are curated to help you build out your syllabus, but every course and instructor is unique.

Student-Centered Syllabus Template

The Student-Centered Syllabus Template offers a flexible and equity-minded framework for instructors. The template includes:

  • Clear prompts for course structure, policies, and learning objectives
  • Suggestions for inclusive tone and accessible design
  • Sections to highlight campus resources, grading transparency, and community agreements
  • Embedded tips for fostering student engagement, belonging, and academic success
The template is editable and designed to support diverse instructional contexts. You’re encouraged to personalize the template to reflect your teaching style, course goals, and disciplinary standards.
